Best practices for easy pool maintenance

Posté le

Contrary to popular belief, maintaining a swimming pool is quick and easy as long as simple steps are performed regularly. However, there are many pieces of equipment available to make these tasks easier.

Focus on simple steps to adopt for simplified maintenance

  • The water level must be at the top 2/3 of the skimmer: This is essential for proper filtration. If the pool water level is too low, the filtration pump may lose its prime.
  • Clean the pre-filter basket and the filter media: The warning sign of a clogged filter bag or cartridge is a reduction in the filtration flow rate at the outlet of the discharge nozzle and therefore sub-optimal filtration. During the season, it is recommended to clean the filter bag every week (the cartridge has a significantly longer autonomy: JD Maxi filter has an autonomy 7 times greater than that of a filter bag ).
It is also important to remember to clean the white pre-filter basket thoroughly. Since the skimmer flap skims the water, the pre-filter basket is the element that collects the large pollutants present on the surface of the water.
  • Cleaning the pool and waterline: The waterline is where pool pollution accumulates. It is advisable to quickly remove all deposits with a special sponge and products specifically tested for pools.
  • A filtration time adapted to the water temperature: the basic rule is to divide the water temperature by 2 to obtain the ideal filtration time. This rule is only valid when the water temperature is less than or equal to 28°C. Indeed, above 28°C, filtration must be carried out continuously. More information on filtration time .
  • Analysis and correction of water parameters: healthy and clear water is the result of mechanical (filtration) and chemical (appropriate water treatment) action. It is important that the water parameters: pH, disinfectants are checked weekly and adjusted if necessary so that the disinfection of the pool water can be carried out correctly. It is also recommended to have a complete analysis of the water parameters carried out once a year (if possible at the start of the season) in your Desjoyaux store to check the other parameters: stabilizer, alkalinity and water hardness.

Automatic treatments or electric robots: comfort equipment that facilitates maintenance

To make maintaining your pool easier, both in terms of water treatment and cleaning, your pool professional can offer you a range of equipment designed to limit your intervention in pool maintenance.

  • Automatic treatments:
    – Electrolyzer: It produces chlorine using the salt present in the pool through an electrochemical process called electrolysis. This device eliminates the need to add traditional chlorine tablets to your pool. The salt electrolyzer produces the amount of chlorine needed for the pool volume. The only thing you need to do is check the salt level (minimum 3.2 mg/l) and the chlorine level.
    – JD salt and pH regulator: The principle of the device is to control and regulate the production of chlorine and/or pH in the pool according to pre-recorded instructions. Here again, controlling the water parameters remains the only operation that should be carried out.

  • Cleaning robots:
Whether hydraulic or electric, cleaning robots facilitate pool maintenance by minimizing human intervention. Hydraulic robots are efficient and economical. They operate thanks to the pool's filtration pump . The range of electric robots offers a wide range of cleaning options: cleaning cycle duration, cleaning type: bottom, bottom and walls, bottom, walls and waterline.
