5 surprising facts about the durability of Desjoyaux pools
5 surprising facts about the durability of Desjoyaux pools
Posté leA swimming pool is a watertight artificial basin which must keep the water filtered, clear and disinfected.

1- A swimming pool made up of different components
Thus, every Desjoyaux swimming pool includes:
– A structure made of recycled polypropylene panels assembled together, reinforced and filled with concrete. This process gives the pool wall an unlimited lifespan.
– A pipeless filtration unit comprising all the filtering elements to enable the filtration of pool water and the diffusion of treatment products.
– A liner for waterproofing the structure.
– Coping stones.
Apart from the structure, which stands the test of time, all the components of a Desjoyaux swimming pool can be replaced individually without affecting the other components (changing the filtration pump does not involve replacing the unit, changing a pipe does not involve replacing the pump, replacing the liner has no impact on the structure, etc.).
2- Longevity of Materials
The structure of a Desjoyaux swimming pool has a longer lifespan than concrete pools due to the combination of permanent formwork and concrete + reinforcement. A permanent formwork (patent filed in 1978), reinforced and filled with concrete in a single operation for a monolithic and self-supporting structure. The structure resists ground movements and the first Desjoyaux structures are still alive!
In conclusion, we can say that a Desjoyaux structure offers an almost unlimited lifespan.
3- Advanced filtration technology
The Desjoyaux filtration unit, directly inspired by boat outboard engines, is designed without pipes. It offers undeniable advantages that have been part of eco-responsibility since 1983, when a patent was filed:
– Avoids pressure losses linked to water circuits and therefore limits electricity consumption.
– Each group is equipped with a low-consumption filtration pump.
– Cleaning the filter media does not involve a backwash operation with discharge of treated water into the sewer: cleaning the filter bag over a full year is estimated at 1.1 m3.
– An eco-responsible product for 40 years!
4- A French production
The Desjoyaux industrial site includes 5 workshops where swimming pool components are manufactured and a workshop dedicated to the manufacture of shelters:
– 2 Injection Press Workshops: one for injecting the structural panels and the other for injecting the various parts/components of the pool: pool stairs, filtration units, pipes, adjustment props, spotlights, flange covers, etc. All components that are not cosmetic parts are produced with recycled materials. Thus, the structure of a Desjoyaux pool is 100% recycled.
– 1 liner workshop: manufacturing liners for Desjoyaux swimming pools.
– 1 paving workshop for the production of paving and coping stones from the Classic Desjoyaux range
– 1 swimming pool shelter workshop for the manufacture of Desjoyaux low and mid-height shelters
Desjoyaux positions itself as an eco-responsible brand that manufactures and controls the quality of its pools and equipment in France. This ensures that its customers always have a contact person available, no matter what problem they encounter.
5- Scalability and renovation
A Desjoyaux swimming pool has the undeniable advantage of being able to be renovated depending on the component to be replaced: liner, filtration unit or simply filtration pump.
A renovation is often considered to improve the aesthetics of a pool or to replace a component that no longer fulfills its "mission", for example a liner that has become too porous and no longer ensures the pool's watertightness. However, it should be noted that a well-maintained pool can offer even greater durability while incorporating modern technologies and materials.
Finally, Desjoyaux in-ground pools can integrate new technologies: automated control systems, heating, installation of peripheral equipment, etc. Ever more advanced research to limit water and energy consumption while optimizing user comfort.
