Space optimization: Semi-buried swimming pool in a small garden

Optimisation de l’espace : Piscine semi-enterrée dans un jardin de petite taille

An ideal compromise between an above-ground pool and an in-ground pool, the semi-inground pool has the enormous advantage of being able to fit into more unusual terrain.

What is a semi-inground pool?

A semi-inground pool is a pool that is partially buried in the ground either at the same height over its entire surface, or on one side of the pool when the ground is sloping.
Just like the in-ground pool, the semi-in-ground version is exempt from administrative formalities as long as its surface area is less than 10m².

Learn more about administrative formalities.

Although there are different models of structures to be partially buried in the ground, it is preferable to select concrete and reinforced structures so as to have a swimming pool with an unlimited lifespan.
Desjoyaux structures can be installed semi-buried on both sloping and flat ground.

Why build a semi-inground pool?

A sloping terrain makes it easier to install an in-ground pool with one side above ground and one side below ground. The terrain configuration is then skillfully used for pool installation.
Opting for a semi-inground pool has other significant advantages:

– Durability: This type of installation, as long as the construction is similar to the family of heavy structures (concrete, reinforcement, etc.), is durable in the same way as an in-ground swimming pool.

– Real estate value: The presence of a semi-buried swimming pool on sloping land or one with levels will undoubtedly add value to the residence.

– the maintenance aspect: the semi-buried swimming pool is in some way more protected from pollution or plants present on the ground and which could end up in the pool in the event of strong winds. Maintenance tasks can therefore be reduced.

– Safety: The fact that the pool is not flush with the ground wrongly suggests that it is safer than a completely buried pool. However, it is not exempt from complying with safety laws. It must therefore be equipped with a safety device: alarm, shelter, barrier or cover.

The advantages of a semi-inground pool in a small garden

In a small garden, every available space must be maximized. The semi-buried version is primarily chosen to maximize available space.

Choosing a semi-inground pool generally allows you to take into consideration the configuration of the land.

It is a kind of "custom-made" project that takes into account the existing layout. Very often, the final result of this type of project adds even more value to a plot of land that initially had some drawbacks.
