Liner is the name commonly used to define the PVC sheet that serves to ensure the waterproofing of a swimming pool. There are 2 types of liner: the 75/100 thickness liner and the reinforced liner with a thickness of 100/100th or 150/100th. The reinforced liner is made up of 2 PVC sheets reinforced by a polyester frame which gives it significant resistance.
Standard liner or reinforced liner, apart from the financial aspect, in which cases should you opt for the reinforced version?
Unlike the 75/100 liner, which is a pocket welded in the factory to the dimensions of the pool, the reinforced version is delivered in several widths to be assembled and welded directly onto the pool.
Due to its different composition from the 75/100th liner and the fact that the installation of the reinforced liner is a technical job which must be carried out by a professional, the cost of a reinforced liner is higher than the 75/100th.
However, it is recommended to choose the reinforced liner for certain types of pool.
This is the case for swimming pools with high attendance (private swimming pools for collective use such as swimming pools in campsites, lodges or hotels as well as public swimming pools).
The reinforced version is also used for so-called "non-standard" pools such as swimming lanes, free-form pools and pools with a submerged beach. A non-slip coating will be installed on the access stairs to the pool or on the submerged beaches to prevent the risk of slipping.
The resistance of the support will also allow the pool water to be heated without worrying about the harmful effects of the water temperature on the coating, unlike the 75/100 liner which has difficulty supporting a water temperature constantly above 28°C, otherwise some creases may appear due to irreversible softening of the material.
Finally, the reinforced version is also used for the renovation of swimming pools since it is a coating which has the advantage of adapting to all supports (polypropylene panels, steel or concrete).
To conclude, if the pool of your dreams is a pool whose shape does not fit into our manufacturing standards, if your pool is used collectively and you are considering significant water heating or if you want to renovate your pool, the reinforced liner is the waterproof coating you need.
